The University of Potsdam views the interconnection of scholarship and teaching in the
training of teachers as a particular challenge. The holder of this position must be able to
adequately represent both fields.
The University of Potsdam has a distinguished teacher training program that is oriented
towards the realities of school and instruction, while also incorporating the latest research
findings in the field; the program includes a high proportion of practical phases. The “Potsdam
Model” of teacher training will be developed further in cooperation with other professorships
involved with teacher training at the University of Potsdam and in cooperation with the
Center for Teacher Training and Education Research. We expect a willingness to cooperate
in continuing teacher training and an interest in crossfaculty collaboration. A willingness to
take gender and other diversity dimensions into account as relevant aspects in research and
teaching is also expected. In addition, applicants should assume their leadership responsibility
in a way that is oriented towards gender equality and diversity.
