The University of Lübeck has a strong research focus on human medicine-centred life Sciences. To further strengthen this focus the UzL seeks a chemist with international visibility and expertise in human in-fection research, preferably virology. The professorship is intended to complement the research activities of the UzL in the area of infectiolo-gy-related Chemical biology including but not limited to protein design, glycobiology or structural biology.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the pro-motion of early-career scientists.
The successful candidate will contribute to teaching of inorganic, bio-physical and organic Chemistry in bachelor's and master's degree programs (including state examinations). It is expected that applicants acquire German language skills by the third year of employment. The University of Lübeck puts emphasis on an excellent supervision of stu-dents and doctoral candidates, and expects high levels ofengagement from teaching staff.
A PhD is an employment prerequisite. Additionally, applicants must include evidence of further scholarly achievements as a junior professor or a post-doctoral researcher, or of equivalent scholarly achievements, which may also fall outside of a university context.
