Professorship (W3) for General and Experimental Meteorology

At the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the Rheinische Friedrich-
Wilhelms-Universität Bonn, at the Institute of Geosciences, Meteorology Section,
W3-Professorship for General and Experimental
is to be filled by October 1st, 2021.
The future holder of the position will represent General and Experimental Meteorology
in its full breadth in research and teaching. The Faculty is looking for an
internationally renowned scientific personality with an outstanding track record
in innovative research in General Meteorology, with a focus on radar meteorology,
remote sensing of atmospheric processes and mesoscale modelling.
It is expected that the professorship will build up an internationally visible research
team and actively participate in the conception and implementation of
research projects in the field of interdisciplinary Earth system research within
the Meteorology section as well as with the remaining sections of the Institute
(Geophysics, Geochemistry/Petrology, Palaeontology and Geology), within the
Geoverbund ABC/J and the other departments of the University of Bonn, and
contribute to the transdisciplinary research areas (TRAs) of the University of
Bonn. An active role in academic management is explicitly expected.
Teaching is an integral part of the professorship. The applicant should cover
a broad teaching spectrum in the study programmes B.Sc. "Meteorology and
Geophysics" and M.Sc. "Physics of Earth and Atmosphere" and participate in
the further development of the study programmes. Excellent didactic skills and
teaching experience are required.
The prerequisites for recruitment are governed by § 36 HG NRW.
