Professorship (W3) in American Studies: Literature and Cultural Studies

The Faculty of Arts of the University of Bonn is seeking to fill the position of a
W 3 - Professorship in American Studies:
Literature and Cultural Studies
at the Department of English, American and Celtic Studies at the earliest
The position is offered in the framework of the specifications and guidelines
of the "Programme for Women in the Professoriate" of the German Federal
Ministry of Education and Research. The programme supports gender equality,
i.e. it is meant to enhance the presence of women at all levels, and to increase
the number of women in high academic positions.
Applicants should represent the entire spectrum of the subject. The ideal
candidate will have developed two research and teaching areas that
demonstrate both a strong background in a historical period (18th-19th
centuries, modern/postmodern) and a grounding in literary or cultural studies
approaches. Expectations include participation in and further development
of the courses of the department, the faculty and the university. Experience
in raising third-party funds is very welcome. We expect the professor to take
on administrative roles and to support the internationalisation strategy of the
