W3-PROFESSORSHIP IN NEURONAL
REGULATION AND DEVELOPMENT
Ruhr-Universität Bochum,
Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology,
announces the position of a tenured full-time W3-Professorship in
Neuronal Regulation andDevelopment to start on
April 2022. The
appointee will represent the field of neuronal regulation and
development in research and teaching. S/he will be expected to conduct
high-quality, grant-funded research in the areas of neuronal regulation
and dynamics of cellular processes in vitro or in vivo
(
https://www.biologie.ruhr-uni-bochum.de/biodek/fakultaet/ls_ag/index.html.en). Fields include but are not restricted to the analysis of neuronal
cell biology and development, processes of cognition and learning, neural
degeneration and regeneration, or neuropharmacology. Cross disciplinary
approaches to the fields of extinction learning, integration of sensory
processes or neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative diseases such as
Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s Disease as studied in the Research
Department of Neuroscience (

and the Center for Protein Diagnostics (
http://www.bph.rub.de/prodi/index.htm) are expected.
Applicants should demonstrate internationally competitive research
expertise and an appropriate track record in the respective fields. S/he is
expected to contribute to current and/or initiate future cooperative
research projects within the faculty and university. The appointee will
provide high-quality and innovative teachingwithin the broad areas of
Cellular and Developmental Neurobiology in the faculty`s Bachelor/
Master programs. A contribution to cross-faculty teaching such as M.Sc.
Stem Cell and Developmental Biology, M.Sc. Biochemistry and PhD
programs is appreciated. Participation in the faculty’s International
Graduate School of Biosciences (IGB) and the RUB Research School Plus
is also expected.
A positive evaluation as a junior professor or an equivalent academic
achievement (e.g. habilitation) and evidence of teaching skills are
required. The willingness to perform administrative duties at the faculty
and at the university level is assumed.
