The Professorship is embedded within the recently established Department of Psychology. It is expected to complete the department's empirical research perspective in behavioral sciences. We are looking for an internationally renowned person with distinguished teaching and organizational skills who will foster the re-organization of the Department of Psychology together with a young team of recently appointed professors. The person to be appointed should represent the field of Social Psychology (including Work and Organizational Psychology) in teaching and basic research.
Research is expected to have an empirical-experimental approach on Social Psychology (e.g. social decision sciences (and underlying cognitive dynamics in group interaction) and/or morals or normative foundation of social decisions). The Work and Organizational Psychology part of the position would benefit from a research focus in behavioral economics.
Teaching obligations include a recently established Bachelor's program in Psychology that supports the concept of "research-based learning" as well as both a research-based Master's program in Psychology and a Master's program in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy qualifying graduates as licensed psychotherapists. Applicants should also be willing to offer courses in English language, and non-native applicants should be prepared to offer courses in German language two years after starting the position.
Besides the possibility to build up an own research infrastructure, the Department of Psychology offers a unique opportunity to cooperate with various in-house research labs (e.g. eyetracking, behavioral and diagnostic labs, AR/VR labs, and an EEG- and MRI research-only unit). The person to be appointed is expected to show a strong interest in cooperation with the University's high-profile area “Social Change, Social Policy and the State”. Further possibilities for cooperation include the high-profile areas “Minds, Media, Machines” and “Health Sciences”.
Prerequisites for recruitment are an academic degree in psychology or a closely related field, a relevant and outstanding dissertation, pedagogical aptitude, as well as further academic achievements (habilitation-equivalent), a record of international and peer-reviewed high-impact publications and third-party funded projects. If the general requirements of civil service law are met, the candidate will be granted civil servant status for life.
The appointment is based on Section 18 of the Bremen Higher Education Act (Bremisches Hochschulgesetz) and Section 116 of the Bremen Civil Service Act (Bremisches Beamtengesetz).
