At the Faculty of Human Sciences, Research Focus Educational Sciences for a
W 3-Professorship for Educational
and Socialization Processes
The successful candidate should be an outstanding researcher with high national and
international visibility. The candidate should have a strong profile in empirical educational
research and the ability to be involved in teacher education.
The research focus of this professorship lies either in the empirical analysis of educational
and socialization processes (with a specialization in at least one of the following areas:
childhood, youth, and/or family) or in the empirical research of educational processes
in various settings (vocational education, further education, higher education, and/or
schools). Publications in national and international journals are a prerequisite. Established
international networks and success in acquiring external funding are expected.
Teaching responsibilities are in the Educational Sciences major and in the educationalscientific
module of the teaching degree programs (secondary education). The professorship
also takes part in advising teaching internships. Involvement in teacher training and
collaboration at the interdisciplinary Teacher Education and Educational Research Center
are expected. Ability to teach in German is desired.
This professorship is part of a project at the University of Potsdam that belongs to a
program at the federal and state levels of German government for improving university
study conditions and teaching quality. The successful candidate will make a particular
contribution to teaching at the University and will be assigned to a teaching unit in which
there is a temporarily high demand for student supervision due to strong interest in certain
degree programs. The professorship will therefore have a slightly elevated teaching load.
