The University of Potsdam, Faculty of Science, Institute of Biochemistry and
and the Leibniz-Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ)
invite applications in a joint appointment (Jülicher Modell) for the following professorship
for Plant Nutritional Genomics
The professorship is expected to establish a new research group on plant nutritional
genomics in horticultural crops, strengthening the cooperation between UP, IGZ
and the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Plant Physiology in Golm (MPI-MP).
Candidates should have a proven capacity to integrate modern genomics technologies
with the discovery and functional characterization of genes relevant for
horticultural traits, in particular for plant nutrition and composition. The successful
candidate will lead the Department of Plant Nutrition at the IGZ Großbeeren. The
research should be responsive to horticultural production constraints, global food
security, and the rapidly expanding technologies in plant functional genomics.
Applicants should be internationally recognized in the relevant research field with
an excellent publication record in internationally renowned scientific journals and
should have a proven ability to acquire externally funded projects. In addition,
experience in general science management, social skills and a team-oriented
leadership are required.
The professorship will help to extend and intensify not only the cooperation of
IGZ with UP and MPI-MP, but also with other partners of plant research in the
Berlin-Brandenburg area. A close interaction with and participation in local research
consortia and/or planned research initiatives are highly welcome. We expect a
significant contribution to the use of genome editing tools for the characterization
and improvement of horticultural crop species. The successful applicant will be
responsible for competent teaching Plant Nutritional Genomics in English language
in the degree program Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (MSc) at the University
More information about the position can be obtained from Prof. Dr. Eckhard George;
phone: +49 (0)33701 78 105; email@example.com
The employment is planned according to the "Jülicher Modell". The candidate will
be appointed as a civil servant or a public employee with the obligation to teach
at least two hours per week at the University of Potsdam.
The hiring process is subject to the requirements set forth in section 41 of the
Brandenburg Higher Education Act for tenured professors only.
Applications (with a presentation of your research interests, a curriculum
vitae, copies of academic certificates and documents, a list of publications,
a list of conducted courses, a list of externally funded projects) should
be sent to the University of Potsdam via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org within four weeks of the publication of this notice.
