The Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) is a member of the Helmholtz Association of National Research Centers, supported by the Federal Government of Germany and the Senate of Berlin. It is dedicated to interdisciplinary biomedical research with the aim to translate basic research findings into clinical applications. MDC researchers collaborate with Berlin based research and medical institutions as well as leading international partner institutions. The Berlin Institute for Medical Systems Biology (BIMSB) is a young new program at the MDC, where researchers specifically focus on gene regulatory mechanisms, supported by ‘omics‘-technologies, computational methodologies and interdisciplinary interaction. The program will increase in size of currently 14 to 25 research groups, including platforms; and it will move in 2018 to a new research building in the center of Berlin.

Project Manager in Life Science

Job description:
The Project Manager will report to the BIMSB Management and support the Management in a wide range of scientific, organizational and administrative tasks. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Organization and management of PhD affairs, including training events and the international exchange program with our partner university NYU
  • Interfacing between scientific and administrative actions to support BIMSB researchers; liaising with scientists, administration and external partners
  • Assistance in application, coordination and reporting of program-specific grants
  • Project management for specific activities of the EU funded research infrastructure project ‘CORBEL‘, e.g. coordination of pan-European pilot research projects and events, communication and reporting
Required skills:
Applicants should have a degree in life sciences or medicine. Professional experience in the area of science management and/or communication would be of advantage. Further requirements are:
  • excellent organizational, writing and communication skills
  • professional command of both spoken and written German and English
  • knowledge of major national and EU funding instruments and experience in grant writing
  • experience of working for international research institutions and ability to effectively interact with multiple stakeholders on international and interdisciplinary levels would be helpful
  • motivation and interpersonal skills to interact with researchers and administrative staff
  • passion for science, self-motivation, pro-active attitude, responsible and independent project handling
  • effective multi-tasking and the ability to work with tight deadlines are a must
Salary: E 13 TVöD/Bund
Start date: next possible date
