You will develop numerical methods for describing the structure of organic semiconductors and their components on the basis of molecular information and apply these to current issues in OLED research, including the VirtMat Organic Semiconductor project. The aim of this project is the development of novel semiconductors and semiconductor combinations for use in multi-component material systems. You will also develop methods for predicting the material properties on a molecular basis as well as their synthetic accessibility. A special focus of your work is on the simulation of the electronic structure. Furthermore, you will work on the Virtual Materials Design (VirtMat) project and support KIT in the application and implementation of new European/national projects in semiconductor/OLED research. The publication of scientific results is also part of your tasks.
You have a university degree (Diplom (Uni) / Master) with a completed PhD with theoretical focus in physics or chemistry. In addition you already have several years of professional experience in the development and application of material science simulation methods for novel organic materials as well as in the simulation of electronic structure and function in multi-component material systems and devices. Knowledge in the following areas is required in solid state physics, in theoretical chemistry on methods for structure simulation (molecular dynamics)on simulation of electronic structure (quantum chemistry) Programming skills (C++, Fortran, Python, parallel algorithms)in the field of machine learning. Very good written and spoken English skills and knowledge of the UNIX operating system round off your profile.
