In the department of Solar Materials, we are seeking at the earliest possible date a

Scientist (f/m)

Working time: 100% (39 hours/week), initially on a fixed-term contract for 3 years with a prolongation option

Your tasks:
  • Productive application of O2-stabile hydrogenases in heterotrophic as well as autotrophic microorganisms
  • Characterization of in vivo hydrogenase catalysis in both directions (oxidative and reductive) and ist interplay with metabolism
  • Research into the regeneration of the redox cofactors NAD(P)H by means of H2 for productive biocatalysis
  • Research towards the synthesis of H2 from water and sunlight
  • Support for and independent application for third party money projects
  • Project management
  • Supervision of PhD and undergraduate students
  • Publication in peer-reviewed journals and at conferences
Your profile:
  • University and PhD degrees in one of the areas biotechnology / molecular biotechnology or biochemistry
  • A solid background in microbiology, biochemistry, and molecular biology methods (especially for prokaryotes) is essential
  • Experience in hydrogenase-related research is desirable
  • Further, experience in fermentation technology for hetero- und phototrophic microorganisms as well as in whole-cell biocatalysis / microbial biotechnology is advantageous
  • Computer knowledge regarding Microsoft Office und research related software
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
