Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) – The Research University in the Helmholtz Association creates and imparts knowledge for the society and the environment. It is our goal to make significant contributions to mastering the global challenges of mankind in the fields of energy, mobility, and information. For this, about 9,300 employees of KIT cooperate in a broad range of disciplines in research, academic education, and innovation.
We are looking for the Institute of Nanotechnology (INT) as soon as possible, limited for 2 years for a
Senior Postdoctoral Research Associate
in Materials simulation for batteries (f/m/d)
We seek an outstanding postdoctoral scientist (f/m/d) (physics / chemistry / materials scientist) to develop and apply simulation methods to problems of electrochemical energy storage. You work as a group leader in the EU project BIG-MAP and the Helmholtz-BASF project DigiCAM and coordinate the associated activities. In this context, you will develop a high-impact research portfolio in this area and supervise doctoral students. You will also participate in the formulation of applications for third-party funding. You will develop methods for multi-scale simulation of batteries and investigate new battery types, both in terms of the development of methods and their application. We expect you to publish your research results in leading national and international journals.
You have a university degree (diploma (university) / master's) in physics / chemistry / materials science with a theoretical focus you have obtained an outstanding Ph.D. degree and gathered additional documented research experience. We expect several years of professional experience in the development and application of material science simulations for battery materials and in the simulation of the structure and function of battery materials. We require sound knowledge of electrochemistry, solid state physics / chemistry as well as knowledge of the corresponding simulation methods, in particular density functional theory / molecular dynamics. Programming knowledge (C ++, Fortran, Python, parallel algorithms), experience in the acquisition of third-party funds, in staff management, in the supervision of doctoral students and teaching experience complete your profile.
We offer you an attractive and modern workplace with access to the excellent equipment of the KIT, a varied work, a wide range of training opportunities and a casino / cafeteria.
We prefer to balance the number of employees (f/m/d). Therefore we kindly ask female applicants to apply for this job.
