The Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Vienna is an international and dynamic team of approximately 30 scientists conducting research and providing education in Nutritional Sciences with a focus on the role of nutrition in healthy aging and the development of metabolic diseases. As a Senior Scientist you are involved in leading and coordinating the SPF mouse facility of our faculty and contribute to research and education at the department, research group Molecular Nutritional Science. With your open-minded, flexible, and reliable personality you add to the coordination of SPF animal facility and can perform research in the laboratories of the Department of Nutritional Sciences, research group Molecular Nutritional Science. This full-time position is a permanent position.
Extent of Employment: 40.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
Your responsibilities:
- Management and coordination of the SPF mouse facility. - Teaching BSc.- and MSc.-level classes in the area of Molecular Nutritional Sciences as defined by the collective agreement. - Identify the demand and give advice for the selection of new instruments needed to maintain the SPF mouse facility - Conduct purchase and act as our contact point to manufacturers and mouse breeders. - Give advice on hygiene controls and breeding of mice within the SPF mouse facility- Guide and advice students and researchers concerning laboratory operations and safety related to the SPF mouse facility.
Profile:
You hold a PhD in the field relevant to Nutritional Sciences or Pharmaceutical Sciences and have proven expertise in working with rodents as well as running an animal facility. Expertise with mouse models and breeding knockout mice is desired. You are curious, well organized, reliable, inspiring, and able to take decisions under time pressure. You are communicative and want to become part of a motivated, international, and diverse team of researchers. You have teaching experience in the field of Molecular Nutritional Sciences.
Excellent communication skills - ability to work under pressure - experiences in teaching
