We are looking to recruit a senior scientist to operate the NMR core facility and perform excellent research in the field of advanced drug design by NMR and integrative structural biology. The NMR facility comprises five NMR spectrometers: Three are already installed and mostly dedicated to small molecules (200 MHz, 400 MHz, and 500 MHz). Two new spectrometers are to come in 2021, mainly used for BioNMR.
The position is currently limited to 1 year with the possibility of extension as a permanent contract.

Job Description:
The Senior Scientist will be a full member of the research group led by Ass. Prof. Julien Orts, located in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the Faculty of Life Sciences. He*She will also have the possibility to pursue his*her own research projects, including the acquisition of extramural research funds. The applicant will have the following tasks:
- Management of the daily operation of all NMR spectrometers, including maintenance
- Taking part in research projects of the Orts laboratory and collaborations with other user groups
- Implement fully automated setups for advanced NMR spectroscopy, data acquisition, processing, and analysis with application in structure elucidation of small molecules, compounds library screening, and protein NMR spectroscopy.
- Development of new NMR experiments
- Participation and leading of teaching courses

Profile:
The applicant should hold a Ph.D. degree, have a strong knowledge of biomolecular solution NMR spectroscopy, good practical and technical understanding of NMR spectrometers. Knowledge in protein biochemistry, experience with scripting and programming, and background in small molecules NMR spectroscopy are considered a plus.
You should also have high social competencies, excellent communication skills, and be a good team player.
