Professor Walther’s research group is part of the Quantum Optics, Quantum Nanophysics and Quantum Information group at the Faculty of Physics. The group’s research focus is dedicated to photonic quantum computing, including linear and nonlinear-optical processing as well as quantum foundation experiments with a focus on quantum causality. For our further reinforcement we are looking for a Senior Scientist that supports in particular the research on nonlinear quantum gates and foundational quantum experiments. The position is currently limited to 1 year with the possibility of subsequent unlimited employment.
The position requires proven extensive research expertise in the field of quantum photonics, particularly photon-photon interactions using strong nonlinear materials, with an emphasize on two-dimensional materials. Additionally, strong expertise on operating laser and detection units for processing multi-photon states is required, as well as experience on quantum correlation measurements and quantum foundations experiments. Candidates with more than three years of postdoctoral experience will be preferred. Furthermore, it is required that the candidate supports, maintains and develops experiments and technology related to quantum photonics. Holding classes due to extent regulations of wage Agreement, examination activities and support of students will also be part of this position. A PhD degree in physics or equivalent qualification. Required skills: Profound expertise in quantum optics, quantum photonics, cryogenics, single-photon detectors based on superconducting technology, and nonlinear optics using two-dimensional materials.
It is highly desirable that the candidate has a documented track record on research activities in quantum foundations, quantum photonics and nonlinear optics, and other experimental or analytical skills required for a research position in quantum optics.
The candidate should also demonstrate documented experience in scientific project management and fundraising.
