PATAS - Software Product Assurance for Model-Based Software Engineering (TEC-QQS)

The European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, is the largest of all ESA sites. ESTEC is ESA’s technical
heart - the incubator of the European space effort - where most ESA projects are born and where they are guided through the various phases of development.
You will be part of ESA’s Quality, Dependability and Safety Division, which is contributing to the success of ESA projects and activities, by providing expert
support and disseminating knowledge in the areas of responsibility, and establishing quality management systems within ESA.
You will be involved in exploring and expanding the scope of the common ESA/DLR study PATAS which aims in defining and demonstrating the appliance of a
standard quality model for model based software engineering projects.
gain a basic understanding of software product assurance methodologies (standards, quality models, metrics) used in the space domain
get familiar with the PATAS (Product Assurance with TASTE) study, understand its scope, its outcome and become able to work with the provided tools (TASTE) and metrics
get familiar with other environments used for Model-Based Software Engineering (e.g. AdaCore, MathWorks tools) and analyze the differences to the TASTE framework
develop tools and methods (e.g. scripts) that allow to apply the quality model created during the PATAS study to other MBSE projects and environments
collect metric values for a number of pilot projects and analyze them, in order to fine tune the proposed metric thresholds in the PATAS study
basic knowledge about model based software development
strong coding and scripting skills (Java, C/C++, Python, Ada) are an asset
knowledge about software standards (MISRA, JSF, ECSS etc.) is an asset
German citizenship is absolutely necessary
applicants should have just completed (conclusion not older than two years) or be in their final year of a university course at Master’s level in a technical or scientific discipline
candidates must be fluent in English or French, the official languages of the Agency
