The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Tenure Track Assistant Professor
in »Advanced data analysis and structuring in Radiology«
to begin at the earliest possible date, not later than 1 October 2020 . The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track to a
tenured W3 position (Associate Professor). The professorship is intended to be funded by the Federal Tenure Track Programme.
The professorship belongs to the TUM School of Medicine and will be part of the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology. TUM School of Medicine is one of Germany's top medical schools in research and in teaching. Close interactions with the Institute of Medical Informatics, Statistics and Epidemiology and the Munich School of BioEngineering, as well as with further informatics, bioengineering, medical physics, mathematics and data science groups at TUM enable innovative, interdisciplinary and translational research.
Responsibilities of the position include research and teaching, as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. The professorship is part of an emerging research focus at TUM School of Medicine, which bridges the evolution of advanced data management, computer learning methods and the translation of multi data approaches into clinical routine diagnostics. Therefore, we seek to appoint an expert in the research area advanced data man-agement, PACS management/big data analysis and machine learning, to ensure the integration of multi-omics data with morphology and to enable the identification of disease-specific and tissue-specific biomarkers. The teaching load includes courses in the subject area and basic courses offered by the TUM School of Medicine, as well as courses for other TUM schools and departments.
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for inde-pendent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude are also prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad, and proven ability to acquire competitive third-party funding (e.g. DFG, EU) are expected. A successful application for an advanced personal research fellowship (e.g. Heisenberg fellowship, ERC grant) is desirable. Relevant knowledge in bioinformatics/mathematics processing of life science omics datasets and/or a profound knowledge of advanced IT infrastructure and/or learning algorithms in computer vision/image analysis is required.
