The Technical University of Munich (TUM) and Helmholtz Zentrum München - German Research Center for Environmental
Health (HMGU) jointly invite applications for the position of
Tenure Track Assistant Professor in » Functional Allergology «
to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track option to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor).
The professorship will be part of the TUM School of Medicine and of the Department of Molecular Allergology of the university
hospital Klinikum rechts der Isar, arised due to joint efforts of TUM and HMGU. The future holder of this position will be
appointed as a TUM-university professor under the terms of a private-law contract and will be granted leave of absence in order
to lead the Research Group "Functional Allergology" at the HMGU based on an employment agreement under private law.
The professorship will be embedded into the active allergy research community in the Greater Munich Area that is represented
by the Cluster of Allergy and Immunity (CAI). Within this Cluster, it will bundle and intensify the institutional collaboration
of the School of Medicine/Klinikum rechts der Isar and Helmholtz Zentrum München.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert
in the research area of human allergy and immunology with a special focus on translational aspects of specific immunity. The appointed
professor will be responsible for the supervision of a FACS facility. The teaching load includes courses in the subject area and the
basic courses offered by the department as well as courses for other academic TUM departments.
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research regarding
human allergy and immunology at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent
scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are prerequisites. Substantial
research experience abroad and expertise in single cell technology and realization of transcriptome measurements as well as bioinformatic
analysis methods are essential. Proven experience and skills in science management (preferably of flow cytometry facilities), experience
in the installation and the management of scientific co-operations and the acquisition of third-party funding, experience in personnel
management as well as experience with human ex vivo cell culture systems, immunology and genome-wide analysis are highly desirable.
Based on best international standards and transparent performance criteria, TUM offers a merit-based academic career option for tenure
track faculty from Assistant Professor through a permanent position as Associate Professor, and on to Full Professor. The regulations of

TUM provides excellent working conditions in a lively scientific community, embedded in the vibrant research environment of the Greater
Munich Area. As a rule, the holder of this professorship is not employed as a "Beamter" under German law.
