Tenure Track Assistant Professor
in » Materials Design for Additive Manufacturing «
The position is a W2 fixed-term (6 year) tenure-track professorship with the possibility for promotion to a tenured W3.
Scientific Environment
The professorship will be assigned to the Department of Materials Engineering at the TUM School of Engineering and Design. It will be part of the TUM.Additive network and collaborate closely with the Centre for Building Materials TUM (cbm) and the Staatliches Materialprüfamt für den Maschinenbau (MPA). Collaborations in data-driven themes with the Munich Data Science Institute (MDSI) are also possible.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as advising and mentoring undergraduate, graduate students and early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in one or more of the following areas related to Additive Manufacturing (AM): Computational materials development for AM (Digital Materials), Advanced metallic and multifunctional material systems (Structural and Functional Metals), Multiscale modelling of AM, Data-driven materials design, High-throughput computational simulations, Influence of recycling and reuse of feedstock materials, Sustainable materials solutions. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with scientific achievements showing significant promise of excellence and leadership at an international level and the capability to develop an independent research program.
A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected
