Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Tenure Track Assistant Professor
in
»Health Sociology«
We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Health Sociology with a focus on social determinants of health and disease prevention as well as
on the relationships between health and society. The professorship should develop and evaluate innovative strategies for increasing health education and
health literacy in the society. The consideration of physical activity and physical literacy is desirable.
A
joint appointment with the TUM School of Governance is anticipated.
Scientific environment
The professorship belongs to the Department of Sport and Health Sciences which is committed to further strengthening its expertise in the area of
Health Sciences. The successful candidate is expected to establish cooperation both within the Department of Sport and Health Sciences and with other
Departments of TUM such as the School of Medicine, the School of Life Sciences, the School of Governance, or the School of Education.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s
bachelor and master programs, especially in the B.Sc. program Health Science and in the M.Sc. program Health Sciences - Prevention and Health Promotion.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international
standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the
ability to teach in English, are prerequisite. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
Our Offer
The positions are W2 fixed-term positions (6 years) with tenure track to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor). The professorships are funded by the Federal Tenure Track Programme.
Based on best international standards and transparent performance criteria, TUM offers a merit-based academic career option for tenure track faculty from Assistant Professor through a permanent
position as Associate Professor, and on to Full Professor.
