The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of
Tenure Track Assistant Professor
in »Technical Education for Vocational Teaching«
to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track option to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor).
The professorship belongs to the TUM School of Education (EDU). The School of Education is one of Germany‘s most innovative institutions for teacher education and educational research. We offer bachelor and master programs for pre-service teachers in vocational schools and secondary schools ("Gymnasium"). We cooperate with most departments of the Technical University of Munich and rely on a network with numerous schools in the Munich area. In consequence, we provide an excellent study environment at the cutting edge of scientific research and hands-on experience.
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of technology education with a focus on vocational teaching. The teaching load includes courses in the university‘s bachelor and master programs. The candidate is expected to establish and to extend the research and teaching segment that serves as a link between engineering subjects and vocational education pedagogy, and to implement curricula in cooperation with the engineering faculties. She/he should represent the full width of the interdisciplinary subject matter of technical professional disciplines in teaching, as well contribute to the interdisciplinary aspect of technology education and the preparation and support of practices for vocational schools.
We are looking for a candidate who has demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international standards. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected. The candidate is expected to have relevant, internationally visible research contributions in a current field of education and in interdisciplinary work. Candidates with experiences in acquiring external funding are welcome.
Based on best international standards and transparent performance criteria, TUM offers a merit-based academic career option for tenure track faculty from Assistant Professor through a permanent position as Associate Professor, and on to Full Professor. The regulations of TUM Faculty Recruitment and Career System apply.
