Tenure track (Assistant) or tenured (Associate/Full) Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation
The Department hosts four disciplinary areas: Entrepreneurship, International Business, Organization and Management, and Organizational Communication. We are looking to hire a colleague who will be positioned in the disciplinary area of Entrepreneurship.
We offer the candidate the opportunity to do research in a vibrant and active international research community. We offer a broad range of opportunities for conducting cross-disciplinary research across Aalto University and in collaboration with the Finnish industry, entrepreneurial ecosystem and government, as well as in international research projects. The position comes with a competitive salary, teaching load of two courses per year, and a start-up package of research funding.
The Department of Management Studies is well-known for its publications in leading management journals such as AMJ, AMR, ASQ, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies, Organization Science and Journal of International Business Studies. Our faculty in the Entrepreneurship unit also actively publishes in the leading disciplinary journals including Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Journal of Business Venturing and Small Business Economics.
Entrepreneurship research at Aalto focuses on understanding the phenomenon of entrepreneurship through multiple lenses and is inclusive in terms of theories and methodologies. Current research interests include entrepreneurial intentions & actions, prosocial motivations of entrepreneurs, entrepreneurs and aging, sustainable entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, emergent organizing in response to crises and entrepreneurship in contexts of deep poverty. In addition to advancing theory development our research contributes to practice and policy. We have published in popular science outlets such as the Harvard Business Review and consulted international organizations such as ILO, OECD and Eurostat in enterprise policy matters.

The Entrepreneurship unit runs its own Master’s Program in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management (EIM), and also contributes courses to other popular Master’s programs such as Creative Sustainability (http://acs.aalto.fi/). The EIM program is designed to give students cutting-edge theoretical knowledge through a unique challenge-based learning experience in the context of one of the most vibrant student-led entrepreneurship communities in Europe. As part of the program students participate in a range of entrepreneurship initiatives, spaces and events, such as the student-led Aalto Entrepreneurship Society, Start-up Sauna and the Slush conference, and the Aalto Ventures Program. Throughout their careers, those in the academic tenure-track system are expected to carry out and supervise scholarly research, to follow the advances of their field, to provide high quality academic education, and to participate in service to the Aalto University community and to contribute to broader societal discussions in their field.
The applicants should hold a doctorate in a discipline relevant for this position. The applicants will be reviewed on the basis of their research, teaching and activity in the scientific community. The position can be at any level of the Aalto University tenure-track system (Assistant, Associate or Full Professor).
