The Department of Food Chemistry and Toxicology conducts research on the toxicological relevance of food constituents and the complex interplay of food bioactives and contaminants with high international visibility. We are looking for highly qualified and ambitious candidates for research on the fate and impact of mycotoxins on the complex interplay of human physiology and the gut microbiome. The interdisciplinary approach shall include LC/MS-based metabolite profiling (microbial and human metabolism) as well as mechanistic studies in advanced cell culture models. In addition, the position involves independent teaching of courses (preferentially in the master curriculum "Food Chemistry") as defined by the collective agreement as well as supervision of students.
Doctoral or PhD degree (chemistry, biology or related discipline) - Excellent command of written and spoken English - High ability to express himself/herself both orally and in writing - Documented publication activity in peer-reviewed journals - Good team-working ability - Professional competences: Experience with mammalian cell culture and state-of-the-art LC-MS/MS analytics.
In addition, experience with incubation of gut microbial strains would be of advantage.
