University Assistant (post doc)
at the Department of Organic Chemistry
Reference number: 13238
The Organic Synthesis Group of Prof. Bonifazi in the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Vienna is currently seeking a Post-doctoral researcher in the field of organic synthetic chemistry to develop new controlled synthetic methods for preparing boron- and nitride-doped molecular graphenoids.
Duration of employment: 3 year/s
Extent of Employment: 40.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
Development of organic synthetic methods for the preparation of molecularly defined and periodically BN-doped graphenoid molecules. The successful candidate will design and synthesize a series of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon resembling molecular graphene derivatives from borazine precursors and study their physical properties for optoelectronic applications.
Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement, student services, and administration.
Organic synthetic chemist with a proven experience in the development of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons
i) air-sensitive and metal-catalyzed organic reactions,
ii) synthesis and reactivity of borazines,
iii) two-dimensional polymers using organic solvent-free functional liquids,
iv) Photochemistry and photophysical characterization.
Experience in the field of organic synthesis of borazine derivatives.
Profile:
Experience in two dimensional polymer structural characterization and synthesis and optoelectronic characterization (e.g., steady state absorption and emission as well as life-time determination). Experience of laboratory organisation, management and student supervision (both at the PhD and master student levels) is a significant benefit, as well as familiarity with grant proposal application procedures.
The application files should be sent as a single pdf and should include: scientific track record, academic CV (including a list of publications), and contact details of people who could provide a letter of reference.
