The Department of Political Science, a subunit of the Faculty of Social Sciences, addresses all major fields of political science. It is dedicated to innovative and problem-oriented research and provides students with a wide range of specialisations. Members of the Department study the transformation of governance, statehood and democracy across different policy areas, geographical regions and political areas.
Duration of employment: 6 year/s
Extent of Employment: 40.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
Active participation in research, teaching and administration in the field of comparative policy analysis and qualitative methods (Univ.-Prof. Dr. Barbara Prainsack). This involves:
- Developing and strengthening an independent, internationally recognisable research and publication profile
- Participation in research projects
- Project applications and the acquisition of third-party funding
- Independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective bargaining agreement
- Supervision of students
- Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance
- Participation in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration
Profile:
- Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in the field of political science or another relevant social science or humanities discipline
- Expertise in the field of comparative policy analysis
- Expertise in one of the following areas is of advantage: digital transformations in health and other fields of practice and policy, healthcare policies, health systems, social policy
- Good knowledge of qualitative methods of empirical social research required, basic knowledge in quantitative social science methods desirable
- Didactic skills
- Excellent command of written and spoken English (native speaker or equivalent)
- Ability to work in a team
In addition, we expect the successful candidate to have
- A promising publication record
- Teaching experience in the field of political science, including experience with e-learning
- Experience in (external) fundraising
- Experience with working in research projects
Desirable qualifications are
- Knowledge of university processes and structures
- International experience
- Experience in supervising students
- Ability to teach in English
