The Organic Synthesis Group of Prof. Bonifazi in the Faculty of Chemistry is currently seeking a PhD student with research experience in organic synthesis applied to the preparation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
Develop new synthetic methodologies for preparing boron- and nitrogen-doped polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons for applications in optoelectronic devices. We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral Thesis Agreement within 12-18 months.
Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement. Supervision of students.
A degree in chemistry with profound knowledge and practical experience in the field of Organic Chemistry and in particular in the synthesis of heterocycle chemistry and multistep synthetic methodologies. Ability to work independently and to deal with O2- and water-free synthesis methodologies. Excellent command of written and spoken English.
Strong theoretical and practical skills in the field of Organic Chemistry, in particular on the synthesis of air-sensitive organic compounds. Experience on heterocycle chemistry, multistep organic synthesis and carbon-carbon bond formation will be regarded as an added value.
