The position is meant to support a young scientist through her/his Ph.D. research. Employment (30 hrs/week) is based on a 4-year contract.

Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
The successful applicant will enter the department's Ph.D. program and is expected to work on high-dimensional statistical methods involving the LASSO and related shrinkage estimators, with a particular emphasis on the development of inferential procedures in that context (Teaching to the extent regulated by the collective bargaining agreement).
Profile:
A Master's or comparable degree in statistics, mathematics, or a closely related discipline (completed or pending completion); a solid background in statistics and probability theory; and promising potential for original research.
Good command of English, and Computer Skills will be considered as additional assets.
