|The position includes the director‘s position of the department "Terahertz and Laser Spectroscopy" at
the DLR‘s Berlin Institute of Optical Sensor Systems. The successful candidate will represent the field of Terahertz and
laser spectroscopy at TU Berlin in research and teaching (2 SWS). Research requirements at TU Berlin will be fulfilled as
director at the DLR.
Technische Universität Berlin and the DLR Institute of Optical Sensor Systems co-operate in research and development
in the field of Terahertz and laser spectroscopy. Within the framework of this co-operation both partners want to
strengthen the teaching and research in the field of Terahertz and laser spectroscopy. Applicants should have shown
academic expertise in one of the fields below. In addition, the area of research expertise should allow co-operations with
adjoining research groups; successful candidates should be able to manage large research groups and organize complex
Successful applicants must fulfill the requirements for appointment at the professor level in compliance
with § 100 BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), including a completed academic education, qualified achievements in
research and a particular qualification for academic work normally attested by the excellent quality of a PhD, post-doctoral
lecture qualification (Habilitation) and pedagogical didactic qualifications, to be proven by teaching experience and
visualized in a teaching portfolio (for further information see TUB Website, quick as no. 144242).
Applicants should have adequate expertise and experience in at least one of the following research areas:
- High-resolution THz-spectroscopy of molecules and semi-conductors
- Spectral THz imaging
- THz-lasers, especially applications of quantum cascade lasers
- THz security research
- Laser based instruments for space missions
We expect experience in the acquisition of third-party funding from industry and public funding organizations as well as
national and international experience in projects, management and teaching. Candidates for the position must be able to
manage a department with approximately 20 people and are expected to participate adequately in the teaching for the
degree courses of the Faculty II – Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
