The Department of Electrical and Information Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering of Kiel University (CAU) invites applications for a
W 2-Professorship in
“Power Electronics for Electromobility“
to start at the earliest possible time.
The future job holder shall be responsible for the subject area in research and teaching.
The research area covers the conception, design and experimental verification of power electronic systems for electromobility, which use future components of power electronics and information technologies and take aging behavior into account. The activities are intended to complement the area of power electronics, charging infrastructures and the interface to storage technologies. The expansion of the interdisciplinary Laboratory for Reliable Battery Assisted Energy Conversion (BAEW) will be actively pursued. A person is sought who has scientific credentials in at least two of the following areas:
- Cognitive and AI-based power electronics
- Power electronics for charging infrastructures and storage technologies
- Thermal management for integrated electromobility systems
- Wide-bandgap semiconductor-based power electronic circuits.
Practical knowledge in the research field is desired. International scientific experience is welcomed. Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary collaboration in existing and planned collaborative research initiatives in electrical and information engineering as well as materials science is expected. Corresponding initiatives exist in the area of sustainable energies through the use of innovative materials and concepts, network theory and artificial intelligence, for example in the BAEW laboratory and within the CAU focus "Kiel Nano, Surface and Interface Science (KiNSIS)". The professorship is to be integrated into the joint initiative between CAU and the Fraunhofer Institute ISIT (ISIT@CAU "Electronic Energy Systems"). Experience with the acquisition of third-party funds and in teaching is an advantage. In the area of teaching, cooperation in the department's teaching program in accordance with the valid teaching obligation ordinance is required. The willingness to learn the German language and to teach in German (after three years) and English (from the beginning) in Bachelor and Master programs and to take over compulsory courses in the field is expected.
