At the Faculty of Physics of the Georg-August-University of Göttingen at the Fourth Institute of Physics a Junior Professorship
W1 t. t. W2 - "Experimental Solid State Physics"
(f/m/d)
is to be filled in temporary civil service (grade W1 NBesO) with tenure track (grade W2 NBesO). The appointment is initially for a period of three years. If the interim evaluation is positive, the employment will be extended for another three years. The transition to a lifetime professorship (W2) without further hiring process will take place after a further positive evaluation.
We are looking for a team-oriented and dedicated individual who conducts excellent research and has a high potential for breakthrough results in internationally visible projects. Appropriate participation in the implementation and further development of undergraduate and research-oriented teaching in physics and graduate education is expected. The candidate is expected to represent the field of solid state physics in research. Possible scientific foci may include, but are not limited to, the following areas:
- Surface and interface physics
- Ultrafast solid state physics
- Physics on the nanoscale
- Preparation and analysis of low-dimensional systems
Ideally suited to the existing experimental approaches would also be the use and further development of innovative scanning probe methods.
The Göttingen campus offers a diverse and stimulating research environment with several existing and planned collaborative initiatives.
The hiring requirements are based on § 30 of the Lower Saxony Higher Education Act (NHG) as currently amended. Applicants who have completed their doctorate at the University of Göttingen can generally only be considered if they have changed universities after completing their doctorate or have worked scientifically outside the University of Göttingen for at least two years. If the prerequisites are met, they will be hired as temporary civil servants. The Foundation University of Göttingen has the right of appointment. Details will be explained upon request.
Applications from scientists from abroad are explicitly welcome. The University of Göttingen aims to increase the proportion of women in areas where they are underrepresented and therefore strongly encourages qualified women to apply. It also sees itself as a family-friendly university and promotes the compatibility of science / profession and family. The university has set itself the goal of employing more severely disabled people. Applications from severely disabled persons will be given preference if qualifications are equal. Part-time employment may be granted under certain circumstances.
Online applications including curriculum vitae, list of publications, description of third-party funded projects and teaching and research activities are requested by 13.06.2022 online via the application portal to:
