The Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) is, with its holistic approach a driving force for sustainable development due to its unique range of courses geared towardsfuture-oriented topicsand its strong institutional commitment to the field of sustainability research.. Around 2,300 students from about 60 nations study and more than 400 employees teach, research and work at the modern university. The mission of the HNEE is to lead the transformation towards a sustainable society by developing viable model solutions and equippingstudents with the necessaryskills to shape the future.
At the Department of Landscape Management and Nature Conservation, the following permanent professorship (W2, 100%) is available as soon as possible.
"Technologies for sustainable production and
quality assurance of plant-based foods"
Your tasks
You will be responsible for teaching courses, particularly in the planned bachelor's degree program "Sustainable food and agricultural systems" (ErnA),which combines organic farming with sustainable food production, nutrition, sustainable business and nature conservation.. Your contribution to the other teaching programs at HNEE of the university is expected, especially in the programs "Organic Agriculture and Marketing" (B. Sc.), "Organic Agriculture and Food Systems (M. Sc.), "Landscape Use and
Conservation" (B. Sc.) and Sustainable Regional Development (M. Sc.).
In your lectures, you transfer current knowledge, innovative approaches and methods for the sustainable production of plant-based food at the first and second processing stages.You will support juniorstaff in developing a holistic understanding of the complex challenges of a sustainable food system, especially with regard to holistic quality assessment and assurance of plant-based foods, i.e. for product-, process- and food supply chain-related characteristics, taking into account legal requirements.
The following areas a re to be covered:
- Sustainable food production (incl. raw material science) along nutrition-sensitive food supply chains, food processing, methods of food processing technology
- Methods of quality determination of plant-based foods, food law
- Food quality, quality criteria and the technologies for the quality assurance of plant-based food along the value chain.
- Plant nutritional physiology and functional foods, product development / development of innovative and sustainable foods
- If applicable, other modules such as 'Data evaluation and statistics' and 'Working with data.
You will bringexpertise in severalof the above-mentioned topics, be able to link them in an interdisciplinary way and thus contribute to the transformation of the agricultural and food industrytowards sustainability.
You will take the lead in designing, setting up and managing a laboratory for product-, process- and supply chain-related quality assessment and sensory analysis of plant-based foods.
The field of activity requires a consistently practice-oriented teaching on the basis of an inter- and transdisciplinary attitude.
The teaching load is 18 semester hours per week. Courses are tought German. In the context of internationalization, you will be expected to teach courses in English. You are expected to demonstrate qualifications and experience in innovative teaching and learning formats.
You are committed to application-oriented research and an independent acquisition of third-party funds. In your research activities you will develop the existing expertise at the HNEE in the field of quality assurance and production of plant-based foodstuffs in an interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary way and in interaction with neighboring disciplines in a trendsetting manner. In close exchange with regional, national and international actors in the agriculture and food sector, you will contribute to transformation of the food system.
You are interested in taking on tasks in the university's self-administration and its committees (e.g. the management of a study program, study advisory, or similar).
Furthermore, identification with the university's claim to sustainability is a prerequisite.
Requirements
**Formal hiring requirements are according to § 41 BbgHG (1 ) 1 - 3, 4 b:**Completed university studies; special qualification for scientific work, usually demonstrated through a qualified PhD; special achievements in the application or development of scientific knowledge and methods in a professional practice of at least three years, of which at least two years must have been exercised outside the university area; as well as pedagogical aptitude.
In addition, identification with the university's commitment to sustainability is required.
