There is a vacancy for a full position of an artistic professorship at
grade W2 in the field of
Theory and Practice of
Motion Aesthetics in the
degree programme Acting to be filled as of
1 April 2023.
W2 professorship in Theory and Practice of Motion Aesthetics
Time limit:
The professorship will be filled in accordance with
§43 Brandenburg Higher Education Act (BbgHG). The appointment is initially limited for five years and will be made permanent after a positive evaluation.
Responsibilities:
The professorship
"Theory and Practice of Motion Aesthetics" is accordingly focused on the following topics for the supervision of the subject area:
Teaching and organisation or coordination of teaching in the areas of movement, dance, acrobatics, and fencing (teaching of basic competences and competences based on these) and in physical-playful forms of expression based on these, such as: Commedia dell' arte, performance techniques, etc.
Subject-specific supervision of scene studies in the areas of stage and film
Subject-specific collaboration in artistic projects of the degree programme Acting
Further development of the concept for inter-programme cooperation at the Film University, e.g. with degree programmes Animation, Cinematography etc.
Work on the constant continuation of the study reform for the subjects of
"Theory and Practice of Motion Aesthetics" under the aspect of technical further development
and the associated new possibilities of expression in digital media production.
The tasks of the professorship
"Theory and Practice of Motion Aesthetics" will therefore include in particular:
- Continuous teaching in the areas of "Movement", "Dance" and "Morning Training" (18SWS)
- Organisation and coordination of teaching assignments for "Acrobatics" and "Fencing" as well as planning and organisation of relevant courses
- Imparting competences for independent exercise programmes for students (e.g.: yoga/ tai chi/ qigong/ other
- Teaching competences in relevant exercise programmes (e.g.: ballet, contact improvisation)
- Teaching competencies in contemporary and historical movement and dance styles relevant to the stage or to film
Willingness to actively support and supervise the artistic qualification projects of the academic staff is expected.
Active participation in academic self-administration and committee work as well as collaboration in the further development of the Bachelor's programme in Acting and the other BA and MA programmes at the Film University is also part of the job description.
Recruitment requirements:
The legal requirements for employment are derived from
§ 41 paragraph 1 numbers 1 to 4a and Paragraph 4 BbgHG as follows:
- Completed artistic university studies, preferably in the specific field of dance/dance pedagogy or choreography or equivalent performative techniques in the field of movement
- Pedagogical and didactic aptitude, as evidenced by practical experience at relevant universities or work in theatres/project groups
- special ability to work artistically, to be demonstrated in particular by own productions or formative participation in productions in the specific field of dance/movement theatre
- Furthermore, additional artistic achievements can be proven by documentation of performed works, scholarships, prizes or similar, which prove a successful profile in the fields of dance, choreography, movement theatre, body work theatre/film or similar
Expected:
- A good command of written and spoken English and a willingness to teach courses also in English. There should also be experience in the field of online teaching.
- Experience in the field of promoting young artists, as well as willingness to conduct artistic research, e.g. in the technological consideration of movement in a digital-media context
- Good networking in the national/international community of movement/dance theatre
Teaching responsibilities:
Teaching comprises 18
SWS according to the teaching obligation regulation of the state of Brandenburg and according to the study and examination regulations.
