“A place where knowledge is created” – As a leading business university we set global standards for research and teaching by promoting integrative thought, responsible action and an entrepreneurial spirit of innovation in business and society.

Assistant Professorship in Organizational Behavior
(non-tenure track)

The University of St.Gallen and its School of Management are inviting applications for an Assistant Professorship (non-tenure track) in the field of Organizational Behavior. The triple accredited (EQUIS, AACSB, AMBA) university offers a stimulating and well-equipped research environment with a large network ranging from start-ups, small businesses to large firms to engage in field studies.

We are seeking an excellent early-career scholar with a clear research focus at the intersection of leadership, engagement, and new work. The thematic focus of this position is on the core topics of organizational behavior in the context of today’s complex, uncertain, and socially diverse world of work. We search for a colleague who complements and enriches our areas of expertise and methodological competences.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate expertise in these areas and be capable of developing and researching applied, innovative approaches and solutions to challenges in leadership research.

To be considered for this position, applicants should have completed (or be close to completing) a doctoral degree (PhD) in Management, in the areas of leadership, or a closely related discipline. We expect the successful candidate to demonstrate strong potential for publishing in leading international journals (e.g., FT 50, VHB A+/A), influential books, or top-tier conferences. We appreciate close links with relevant research and executive communities. The candi-date should conduct internationally recognized research with a clear pipeline of high-quality publications applying quantitative, qualitative, and/or design-oriented approaches – ideally including experimental research (lab, field, and online).

The position requires teaching at all levels (Bachelor, Master, and ideally Executive Education), preferably in German and English, and the ability to translate scientific insights into impactful learning experiences. Experience in Executive Education as well as in acquiring third-party funding (e.g., SNF, Innosuisse, industry cooperation) is a strong advantage.

The new professor will be invited to become part of a dynamic team at the Institute for Leadership and Human Resource Management (IFPM-HSG), which focuses on research in leadership, engagement, and new forms of work with the goal of generating impact in both the scientific community and practice.

According to our claim “From insight to impact”, the future colleague should convey scientific knowledge to students and have a significant impact on theory and practice. If the successful candidate has no prior knowledge of German, he or she will be expected to acquire a passive knowledge of the language within two years.

The University of St.Gallen is committed to promoting equal opportunities and an inclusive working culture. We explicitly encourage women and members of underrepresented groups to apply. We offer dual-career and welcome services for newly appointed faculty (and their families).

We seek to fill the position as of 1 August 2026 or by mutual agreement. The appointment is for 6 years, with an intermediate evaluation after 3 years.

For further information, please contact Professor Dr Björn Ambos, Dean of the School of Management and Chairman of the Appointment Committee (facultyposition@unisg.ch).

The application should include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, research statement, teaching statement, list of publications, identification of two publications or working papers that best represent your current research and contact information for two professional references that we may contact if shortlisted for the position. The appointment requires a completed PhD. If the completion is upcoming, candidates should provide a timeline (date of defence, receipt of the certificate).

Candidates should submit their application to the President of the University of St.Gallen, Professor Dr Manuel Ammann, online via www.unisg.ch/professorships at the latest by 15 December 2025. Research talks are expected to take place on 25 February 2026.
