The Centre of Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science is comprised of 23 groups that conductinternationally leading research in the field of microbial ecology and environmental systems science.
Your personal sphere of play:
The Centre's Department of Microbiology and Ecosystem Science assembles an international, ambitious andcommitted team and offers an interdisciplinary scientific environment, cutting-edge laboratories and a creativeworking atmosphere. The PostDoc will be part of the research group Microbial Biochemistry.
The employment duration is 3 years.
Your future tasks:
- Applying LC-MS analyses of microbial metabolites
- Synthesis of chemical standards and probes
- Investigating bacterial biotransformation products of human drugs
- Investigating effects of drugs on siderophore biosynthesis and degradation
- Close collaboration between Chemistry and Microbiology
- Data analysis
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at international conferences
- Supervision of trainees and students
This is part of your profile:
- A PhD degree in Chemistry, or a related field.
- Experience in LC-MS analytics, synthesis of molecular standards (e.g. quinolones, AHLs), quorum sensing pathways
- Preferably experience in working with metal chelators
- Experience in working with microbial cultures (preferably with biosafety level 2)
- Publications in peer-reviewd journals
- A proactive, curious, and independent thinker who is motivated to push the boundaries of knowledge.
- The ability to work effectively in a collaborative, international research environment.
