Field of activity
The professorship is affiliated to the Centre of Pathobiology and is intended to focus on research, teaching and in cooperation with the clinics with microscopic and macroscopic anatomy. According to the development plan of the University of Veterinary Medicine, the expansion of interdisciplinary, translational research should be pursued, so that the findings from research activities support the One Health concept of Vetmeduni.
The central task of the professor to be appointed is to further develop and represent the field of microscopic and macroscopic anatomy to enhance the understanding of structural/functional associations in species relevant to veterinary medicine. The tasks include the further development of existing teaching programmes (compulsory and elective courses, postgraduate training) using digital media and innovative 3D models. Furthermore, the job holder is expected to implement and strengthen applied and clinical anatomy by pursuing a research focus on developmental biology or physiology as well as developing a translational clinical or imaging focus involving national and international collaborations.

In research, the successful candidate should demonstrate a relevant, independent, and internationally visible profile. Adequate third-party funding for the own research in the field of microscopic and macroscopic anatomy is a prerequisite. The job holder is expected to collaborate with the facilities of the Vetmeduni as well as with related national and international institutions.
In teaching, the successful candidate fulfils tasks within the curricula of Vetmeduni, supervises theses and is involved in postgraduate scientific training with a special focus on the interdisciplinary integration of morphological, functional and clinical teaching.
Furthermore, the duties of the position holder include third mission activities as well as contributions to the university self-administration and participation in university as well as national and international committees.
