The Munich Quantum Valley (MQV) gGmbH (www.munich-quantum-valley.de) is a non-profit organization supported by the Bavarian state government as part of the Hightech Agenda Bavaria. Its mission is to develop quantum computing demonstrators based on superconducting qubits and neutral atoms and to make them available for applications in science and industry. It fosters the Bavarian, German and European quantum ecosystem by bringing together research, industry, entrepreneurs, and the public.

Quantum Error Correction Expert (m/f/d)

How you can support us:

• You will build the quantum error correction team in close alignment with the MQV software and hardware teams.
• You will develop and implement advanced quantum error correction methods tailored to the specific needs of atomic and superconducting quantum systems.
• You will closely collaborate with the hardware and software teams to build a control stack and implement error correction principles in practice.
• You will develop a roadmap and coordinate quantum error correction activities with research groups and startups in the MQV ecosystem.
• You will support grant applications and strategically position the MQV at the state, federal and European level.
• You will establish and provide infrastructure, tools and methods for the modelling and simulation of quantum systems and error correction algorithms.

Your qualifications:

• You hold a doctoral degree in natural sciences with specialization in quantum information processing and quantum error correction.
• You have several years of experience in the field of scaling quantum computers. Ideally, you have worked at the intersection of experiment and theory.
• Ideally, you have experience in securing third-party funding and in the coordination of research projects.
• You have leadership skills and ideally already initial experience in leading or managing teams.
• You have excellent organizational skills, high self-motivation, and the ability to work both in a team and independently.
• You demonstrate strong communication skills and approach challenges with a problem-solving mindset.
