Your personal sphere of play
The Faculty of Physics at the University of Vienna is seeking to fill a position as University Assistant (Postdoctoral Level) in the Mathematical Physics Group. This is a temporary position for 5 months, intended to cover a leave of absence in the group.
The Mathematical Physics Group conducts internationally recognized research on theoretical and mathematical aspects of fundamental interactions, with particular focus on quantum field theory, gravity, and string theory. The successful candidate will join a stimulating research environment and contribute to ongoing activities in these areas.
Your future tasks
As part of the Mathematical Physics Group, you will:
- Conduct independent and collaborative research in theoretical or mathematical physics, ideally in areas such as higher-spin gravity, conformal field theory, or related topics.
- Engage actively in the scientific life of the group, including seminars and collaborations.
- You independently hold courses and examinations within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- Supervise and support students where appropriate.
This is part of your personality
To succeed in this role, you have:
- A completed doctoral degree (PhD) in theoretical or mathematical physics.
- A strong track record of research excellence, demonstrated by publications in reputable international journals.
- Research expertise in one or more areas such as higher-spin gravity, conformal field theory, or closely related topics, aligning well with the focus of the Mathematical Physics Group.
- The ability to work independently, while also contributing effectively to a team.
- Very good communication skills in English.
