The University of Vienna, Faculty of Chemistry, is home of the Vienna Doctoral School in Chemistry (DoSChem). DoSChem is the largest doctoral training program in Austria focusing on the field of chemistry and closely related sciences by bringing together more than 200 doctoral students and over 50 principal investigators. The Organic Synthesis Group of Prof. Maulide at the Faculty of Chemistry is currently seeking a PhD student with research experience in organic chemistry and natural product synthesis for temporary employment relationship (until March 31, 2026).
Your personal sphere of influence:
Studies on the stereoselective synthesis of organic compounds. The focus is on the development of new organic reactions and reaction sequences, with an emphasis on exploring the reactivity of oxocarbenium ions, the synthesis and characterization of fluorescent organic cations for biological applications, and the synthesis of bioactive molecules (e.g., linkers, affinity probes).
Your future tasks:
- Participation in research projects / research studies
- Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations
- Working on your dissertation and its completion
- You are expected to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12 months.
- Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
- Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums
- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration
