Your personal sphere of influence:
A PraeDoc university assistant position is to be filled at the Department of Business Analytics and Decisions starting from November 1st, 2025. The contract duration upon appointment is 4 years, with the employment initially being limited to 1,5 years and can automatically be extended to a total of 4 years, provided that the employer does not issue a non-extension notice within a maximum of 12 months.
Your future tasks:
You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the area of Operations Research and Machine Learning
- We expect you to finalize your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
- You will work on your dissertation and its completion.
- You will independently conduct teaching activities within the scope of collective bargaining agreements, in the field of Production and Logistics.
- You will undertake administrative tasks in research & teaching.
- You will supervise students.
- You will participate in publications/scientific presentations.
This is part of your personality:
- You have experience with exact and (meta-)heuristic solution methods in the field of Operations Research.
- You have a Master’s degree in industrial engineering, information systems, business administration and/or economics, computer science or a related field.
- Experience performing and publishing academic research at peer-reviewed conferences and journals is a plus.
- You are an experienced programmer, preferably using the Python programming language.
- Experience modeling and solving vehicle routing problems involving variable travel durations is a plus.
- Experience modeling and solving optimization problems involving maritime settings is a plus.
- You are a team player with excellent social/communication skills.
- You have excellent English language skills, both written and spoken.
