Your personal sphere of influence:
As a university assistant prae doc, you will complement the research team around Prof. Sonia Kleindorfer and be responsible for leading and developing your PhD project in the area of bioacoustics, assist with tasks such as student supervision, and contribute to field work projects as guided by Prof. Kleindorfer.
The focus of our research is animal communication and the development of software tools for automated data analysis and improved bioacoustic data storage and analysis, including using bioacoustic data to study mechanistic and functional aspects of animal communication. Our BirdLab Team currently consists of two postdocs, five prae docs, and administrative colleagues.

Your future tasks:

- You are involved in research projects and scientific studies.
- You present research results at national and international conferences.
- You publish your research results in international scientific journals.
- You work on your dissertation and its completion.
- You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
- You participate in the doctoral school VDS CoBeNe.
This is part of your skill set:
- Completed Master's degree in biology, zoology, behavioral sciences, or a related field
- Basic experience in academic writing and research methods
- Excellent command of written and spoken English (C1 Level), additional language skills are an advantage
- IT user skills (MS Office, statistical software, biostatistical software)
- Understanding of bioacoustic principles
- Desirable knowledge: programming skills (preferably python or R), knowledge of machine- and deep learning, bioacoustic analysis skills, database management
- Desirable experience: animal behaviour research
- Willingness to perform challenging field work
- Strong teamwork skills and willingness to collaborate

Fair salary: The basic salary of EUR 3,714,80 (on a full-time basis) increases if we can credit professional experience.
Contract: The employment duration is 4 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a declaration of non-extension.
