Senior Site Manager (all genders) with active project management responsibilities
Full-time (40 hours/week) | limited to 3 years with the option of extension
The newly founded Institute for Green Technologies & Innovation / Europa Campus Hainburg, an organizational unit of the Faculty of Technical Chemistry at TU Wien, is seeking to fill a position as Senior Site Manager (all genders) with active project management responsibilities, independent budgetary responsibility, and organizational leadership skills in the form of a fixed-term contract, expected to start in April 2026 for 40 hours per week.
Place of work: TU Wien, initially: Campus Getreidemarkt, Getreidemarkt 9, A-1060 Vienna; later Europa-Campus Hainburg
Under the organizational leadership of the Faculty of Technical Chemistry, TU Wien is currently pursuing the establishment of an external campus in Hainburg upon invitation of the province of Lower Austria. This is a cross-border project aimed at intensifying scientific exchange in the CEE (Central Eastern Europe) region in line with strategic initiatives of TU Wien (see accompanying documents for further information).
Along this line, the organizational unit Institute for Green Technologies & Innovation / Europa Campus Hainburg (E167) was established at the end of 2025 with the aim of establishing the research areas of material as well as energy valorization and regulatory chemistry & green economy in the medium term. Implementation will be based on the thematic guidelines of the province of Lower Austria (medical life sciences and digitalization) and the areas of expertise of TU Wien (focus on sustainability aspects and applied industry-related research fields of regional importance), with particular emphasis on interfaces between traditional engineering sciences with high innovation potential. The new Europa Campus Hainburg will be a cooperative research and education location that will stimulate cooperation between universities and universities of applied sciences in an international environment. Research collaborations with the University of Applied Sciences St. Pölten and STU Bratislava, among others, are currently in preparation, with TU Wien planning to promote close integration with the Europe-wide university alliance EULIST (https://eulist.university/).
This call for applications seeks a dynamic and proactive individual for project management during the current planning and preparation phase of this strategic flagship project of the faculty. The aim is to actively establish a cooperation network, identify funding instruments, and acquire funding for the start-up phase of research operations. At the same time, the necessary coordination of the construction planning and implementation of the campus area for future use by TU Wien vis-à-vis the developer and the infrastructure client, the Province of Lower Austria, will be supported. The successful candidate will support the Dean (responsible for the strategic positioning of the project) in operational and administrative tasks and will be given a high degree of autonomy, budget responsibility, and management authority with regard to the organizational structure of E167. Once the campus in Hainburg is operational (currently planned for 2028), TU representation in the form of Institute E167 is expected to take over site management. This includes organizing the move-in of research units that will already be operational by then, further site development with regard to the research portfolio, and establishing an autonomous site operating culture.
