Your personal sphere of play:
The Department of Behavioral and Cognitive Biology is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work in the research group of Prof. Narly Golestani. Applicants should have a strong interest and track record of research expertise in the cognitive neuroscience of language and reading, including reading disorders (e.g., dyslexia) and their neurobiological bases. The ideal candidate holds a PhD degree in linguistics, psychology or cognitive neuroscience, and has several years of postdoctoral experience, including experience supervising bachelor and master students. Teaching experience (ideally in both English and German) in the fields of linguistics and psychology is required. Applications should also be able to work well in a team and possess strong interpersonal and leadership skills (e.g., knowledge how to foster and deal with diversity, coaching and mentoring skills). Additionally, experience in designing and conducting research with children and teenagers from diverse backgrounds (including developmental, language and learning disorders) is required, as is training in educational therapy for learning disorders. Last, experience with national and international grant applications (ERC, FWF, DFG) is highly desired.
Your future tasks:
Active participation in research, teaching & administration.
The successful candidate will participate in the Department’s research, teaching (to the extent regulated by the collective bargaining agreement) and administration.
This involves
- Developing and strengthening the independent research profile
- Involvement in research projects / research studies
- International publications and presentations
- Supervision of students
- Participation in evaluation measures and quality assurance
- Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration
This is part of your personality:
- Completed doctoral/PhD studies in linguistics, psychology or cognitive neurosciences
- Outstanding dissertation in the field of language learning research
- Background in education and language learning
- Training in educational therapy for learning disorders, including diagnostic assessment
- Experience working with children from diverse backgrounds, including language, learning and developmental disorders
- Proven research competence and initiative through publications in prestigious peer-reviewed media
- Experience with grant applications on international and national levels
- High quality in your own teaching and supervision experience
- Coding skills (SPSS, JASP, R)
- Very good English and German skills (at least C1), preferably good French skills (at least B2)
- Team player with strong social/ communication skills
