W2 Klaus Faber Endowed Professorship in Systemic Neuroimmunology
(m/f/x; Reference no.: W2883)
This professorial position is a fixed-term public sector appointment (Beamtenverhältnis auf Zeit) for a period of five years.
The professorship forms part of the planned Klaus Faber Institute for Neuroimmunology, which is being established to pursue basic research into neuroimmunological diseases, focusing particularly on multiple sclerosis. The person appointed to this professorship will conduct teaching and research in systemic neuroimmunology, with a focus on multiple sclerosis, will have experience in a leadership position and have a strong record of relevant research. We welcome applications from researchers with expertise in bioinformatics and laboratory-based research in neuroimmunology, immunology, neurobiology or microbiology.
We are looking for an individual with an established international reputation in their field and an outstanding record in both teaching and research who will contribute significantly to the progress of ongoing projects and will play a key role in establishing new interdisciplinary and interfaculty collaborative projects. Your research work should complement and strengthen the Faculty of Medicine-s strategic research priorities. You will also be expected to establish cooperative ties to the PharmaScienceHub and to the Center for Gender-Specific Biology and Medicine (CGBM) and to engage closely with external research institutes, such as the Helmholtz Institute for Pharmaceutical Research Saarland (HIPS) and the Leibniz Institute for New Materials (INM).

Applicants are expected to demonstrate international distinction in the field of neuroimmunological diseases, with a particular focus on multiple sclerosis, as evidenced by high-quality publications in the relevant field and experience in acquiring and managing external funding, particularly for research-driven projects. If appointed, you will be expected to deliver innovative teaching concepts, be willing to actively support and supervise students in their academic work, and to encourage and foster early career researchers.
