The IWH focuses on research in financial and labor markets as well as productivity growth and innovation. The Assistant Professorships shall strengthen the joint research focus in Finance of the IWH and the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. The successful candidates will join IWH’s Department of Laws, Regulations and Factor Markets and the Financial Markets Department, respectively.
The requirements for the positions are: the completion of a PhD in Economics or Finance by summer of 2027 at the latest, the potential for successful publications in leading international journals, and ideally an emerging network of international research collaborations. The successful candidates are expected to teach in the Faculty’s Bachelor and Masters Programmes and in the PhD program of IWH-DPE. While knowledge of German is desirable, it is not a requirement for the positions.
The employees are assigned the status of civil servants with limited tenure (Beamtenverhältnis auf Zeit). The contract will initially be limited to three years, and may be extended by a further three years given a positive evaluation.
The Otto von Guericke University and the IWH aim to increase the proportion of women researchers within the university and specifically encourages women to apply. Applications from disabled persons will be given priority in the case of equal suitability, ability, and professional expertise.
