Furtwangen University is offering a research position in the Faculty Mechanical and Medical Engineering as
Academic Assistant (male / female / non-binary)
Institute for microsystem technololgy (iMST)
as a fixed-term contract for 36 months. Working hours per week will be 39,50 (100 %). It may be possible to apply for a part-time position. Employment conditions are regulated by the German TV-L regulations (max. E13 TV-L), depending on responsibilities and qualifications of the individual candidate. The position is located at Furtwangen campus. We do expect you to be prepared to undertake tasks at the other campuses, too, however.
Your tasks will include:
- Participation in the DFG-funded research project "Investigation of electromagnetic Properties of meta-surfaces tunable by means of multidirectional magnetic fields in the terahertz range (MagMetaSurf)". It is an international collaborative project that is being carried out together with the Szczecin University of Technology (Poland).
- Independent planning and execution of scientific work within the framework of the research project, in particular development of deflectable MEMS metastructures
- Process Development for Magnetic Coatings of MEMS Structures
- Modelling and simulation of magneto-mechanical properties with FEM (Comsol)
- Literature research, documentation, reports and publications on the project
- Communication and regular exchange with project partners
- Supervision of student projects and theses within the framework of the project
We are looking for:
A university degree (master's degree) in an engineering or natural science discipline is expected, ideally with practical experience in microtechnology and thin-film technology. Good knowledge of English (business fluent) and German (B1) is required. Knowledge in the field of THz, in particular THz filters, in FEM simulation as well as experience in research projects is desired. Willingness and active work on a further qualification (doctorate) is desired. For applicants with specific knowledge for the project, a postdoc position is also possible.
