The Gene Center Munich of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) invites applications for the position of an Independent Group Leader in Nucleic Acid Research (TV-L E15)
The Gene Center offers a stimulating and interdisciplinary environment and is equipped with state-of-the-art-instrumentation for biochemical analyses, sequencing, structural biology, mass spectrometry, flow cytometry, bioimaging, as well as high throughput projects/screening. Information about the Gene Center can be found at www.genzentrum.lmu.de.
We are seeking a creative and visionary investigator with an outstanding record of internationally recognized research accomplishments in an aspect of nucleic acid sciences (nucleic acid functions, nucleic acid modification and nucleic acid homeostasis) or nucleic acid technologies. Ideally, the new group should complement ongoing research efforts at the Gene Center, e.g. in the direction of nucleic acid immunity (see also TRR 237 Nucleic Acid Immunity - www.trr237.uni-muenchen.de).
Candidates are expected to conduct independent research, to obtain additional extramural funding and to participate in local funding and research networks. Participation in teaching (English or German) is welcome. Primary selection criteria are research excellence and the potential for scientific interactions.
The position is initially for five years (with funding starting mid-2024 or earlier) but may be extended by 2 years if funding permits. The Gene Center provides fully equipped lab space and a competitive package. For successful ERC starting grantees, under certain conditions, the group leader position may, at a later time point, be converted into a tenure track professor (W2) position.
The Gene Center seeks to increase the number of women principal investigators and especially invites qualified women to apply. People with disabilities who are equally as qualified as other applicants will receive preferential treatment.
Applicants should submit a single pdf file including cover letter, curriculum vitae, list of publications and a concise statement of research plans (2 pages) by January 1st, 2024 to email@example.com. Informal enquiries may be sent to Veit Hornung (firstname.lastname@example.org).
