The Hospital of the University of Munich, Germany, is one of the largest and most competitive university hospitals in Germany and Europe. 49 specialized hospitals, departments and institutions harbouring excellent research and education provide patient care at the highest medical level with around 11.000 employees.
The Institut für Prophylaxe und Epidemiologie der Kreislaufkrankheiten on the Campus Innenstadt invites applications for the department Weber/Döring Laboratory on the 01.11.2022, in full time, for a
Postdoc position on the role of chemokine receptors in cardiovascular disease (m/f/d)
Institut für Prophylaxe und Epidemiologie der Kreislaufkrankheiten
Scope of duties
A postdoc position is available to study the role of chemokine receptor CCR8 in chronic inflammation. CCR8,
mainly expressed on regulatory T cells (Tregs), follicular T helper cells and innate lymphoid cells (ILC), a rare
cell population, closely related to T and B lymphocytes, is known to bind CCL1 and CCL18. To further
characterize CCR8-dependent immune functions of immune cell subsets in chronic vascular inflammation, we
now aim to investigate the role of CCR8 and its ligands on group 2 ILCs (ILC2s) in atherosclerosis and
perivascular adipose tissue inflammation. Using atherosclerosis as a disease model for chronic inflammation,
the project will interrogate the cell-specific (neutrophils, monocytes and dendritic cells) and systemic effects
of both receptors in inflammatory responses in atherogenesis and atheroprogression in mouse models and
human samples.
The postdoc position is part of the SFB 1123:
www.sfb1123.med.uni-muenchen.de and therefore offers excellent scientific collaborations.
