Institute of Pathology is seeking a
Researcher (m/f/d) in Artificial Intelligence in Digital Pathology
The fulltime position (38,5 h/week) starts as soon as possible, initially limited for 1 year with option of prolongation.
Our group has a long-standing focus on the development of novel approaches for augmented digital pathology diagnostics using advanced image analysis and deep learning, as well as the innovative method of next-generation morphometry and pathomics. We are looking for a scientist (Ph.D. or PostDoc) working on projects in these areas. The involvement in our other research focuses is also possible, particularly in the development of sustainable AI (or green AI), as well as secure and explainable AI.
Our group consists of an interdisciplinary, international, young team of researchers and clinician scientists, embedded directly in the medical application domain (pathology) at the Institute of Pathology. We have a strong focus on teamwork. Our group profits from several already available large, multicenter as well as real-world patients’ datasets (as well as preclinical data), and is continuously working on their further extension. We have our own state-of-the-art GPU HPC cluster with several NVIDIA DGX A100 and large secure storage.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Development, optimization, application, and clinical validation of deep learning algorithms in digital pathology
- Optimization of models and analyses for sustainability and security
- Expanding our knowledge of pathology through applications of explainability and interpretability techniques, as well as extensive feature analysis
- Evaluation, presentation (visualization) and interpretation of results
- Independent review of the literature
- Development and application of statistical methods to understand disease trajectories by integrative analysis of transcriptomics and pathomics data and their linkage to clinical information from patients
- Datamanagement
Profile:
- Graduate degree (Masters degree, PhD or equivalent) in computer science, statistics, bioinformatics, or computer science, physics, or mathematics
- Experience with high performance computing
- Advanced programming skills
- Experience with statistical analyses
- Ability to work both in a team and independently
- Good knowledge of the English language (Level C2 or higher)
- Strong motivation
- Enthusiasm for applied research on clinical issues and above-average commitment
