The Faculty of Physics at the University of Vienna invites applications for the position of a senior scientist in the Isotope Physics group. The group operates the Vienna Environmental Research Accelerator (VERA), an internationally well-recognized facility for accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS). A particular strength of VERA is the capability to perform state-of-the-art AMS measurements of actinides.
Extent of Employment: 40.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 lit. b (postdoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.
Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced scientist to take responsibility for actinide AMS at VERA (sample preparation, AMS measurements, knowledge transfer). Further tasks are participation in research, teaching and administration, i.e. publication in peer-reviewed journals, presentations at international conferences, submission of proposals for external funding, participation in exams, in evaluations and in quality control. Teaching responsibilities in accordance with collective bargaining agreement.
Profile:
PhD or equivalent in Physics, demonstrated excellence in experimental AMS, fluency in German and in English both orally and in writing.
At least five years practical AMS experience with actinides.
