to begin in winter semester 2022/23. The position is a W2 fixed-term (6 year) tenure-track professorship with the possibility for promotion to a tenured W3. Scientific Environment
The professorship will be assigned to the Department of Bioscience at the TUM School of Natural Sciences and will be part of the focus on protein science at TUM. The professorship will be appointed within the framework of a cooperation between TUM and Helmholtz Zentrum München and will have access to state-of-the-art cyro-electron microscopy infrastructure at both TUM and Helmholtz Zentrum München. Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of biomolecular cryo-electron microscopy with a focus on single particle analysis. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs. The professorship will interact with structural biologists, chemists, biophysicists and biomedical researchers at the TUM Schools of Natural Sciences, Life Sciences and Medicine & Health, the Bavarian NMR Center, the TUM Center for Functional Protein Assemblies, and Helmholtz Zentrum München. Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites.
